Spring 2024 Update

MotoChic® Diaries

Dear Friends,

With the arrival of spring comes hope for a fresh start and new opportunities. It also marks a celebration close to our hearts – Women’s History Month, or as we affectionately call it, Women’s Herstory Month. In this edition, we’re honored to spotlight just a few of the remarkable women who have shaped the world by fearlessly pursuing their passions.

First, we peek into the purse of inspiring yogi, photographer, and medical software product manager, Dayna Bodensteiner, in our “What’s in Your Lauren Bag?” segment. She’s also the author of our MotoChic Book Pick, Cancer Treatment Journal, a valuable resource I personally wish I knew about as I navigated my own health journey over the past six months.

We’re also thrilled to feature Lanakila MacNaughton in our “Women to Watch” feature, the visionary behind  “The Women’s Moto Exhibit.” Her contributions to the motorcycle industry are both empowering and inspiring.

Planning your next motorcycle trip with your girlfriends, but don’t know where to go? Check out a few of the women’s rallies and rides coming up. And don’t forget to pack your MotoChic Gear Field Cap for all those sunny days to come and take an additional 15% off ALL MotoChic Gear hats by March 31st!

What’s in Your Bag?

Meet Dayna Bodensteiner, a multi-talented woman successfully navigating a myriad of roles from product manager and author to yoga instructor, mom, and motorcyclist. Adding to her impressive repertoire, Dayna is also a gifted portrait photographer whose work has been featured in magazines, galleries, and family homes. Discover why the Lauren Bag instantly captured her attention and how it has become her constant companion, ensuring she stays prepared and organized during her photography shoots.

“I am a product manager for a medical software company by day and a photographer on nights and weekends who also happens to love motorcycles.  I walked into my friend’s store, Side Hustle Moto, saw the black and white Lauren Bag and knew I had to have it. I immediately knew it would be an ideal camera bag.

The pockets work perfectly for my lenses and ancillary gear while the luxurious fabric safely holds my camera and keeps it safe. I love the magnetic closures that allow me to quickly change lenses in the middle of the shoot. I keep my phone and keys in the side pockets, for easy access. These days, I shoot photography between South Dakota, Arizona and Utah so the bag is always with me and travels well.

Photography requires me to be outdoors, agile and in all kinds of situations.  I’m often on creek banks or climbing cliffs. This lightweight, versatile and stylish backpack is perfect, and I always get compliments on it during my shoots.

MotoChic® Book Picks

Motochic Book Picks

Drawing from her extensive 27 year career as a radiation therapist, Dayna Bodensteiner created an invaluable resource to help individuals organize their thoughts and emotions throughout their challenging journey of cancer diagnosis and treatment.

“In the midst of the pandemic, I had a dream visualizing this book in its entirety. I had no idea how to publish a book, but I set out on the path and 10 months later, I had a finished product.  It is a culmination of all of my life experiences from working with cancer patients, walking the journey with my friends, my yoga teaching, photography and also the loss of my husband.”

Since its release in 2021, the CancerTreatment Journal has garnered rave reviews and has been used by thousands of patients all over the world.

Women to Watch

Lanakila MacNaughton discovered her love for motorcycles in her early twenties, and combined with her love of photography, she discovered the vibrant world of motorcycle culture that she would begin to document through her lens.

Since Lanakila created it in 2012, “The Women’s Moto Exhibit” has been showcasing portraits and stories of women riders from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Through this project, she challenges stereotypes and celebrates the empowerment and freedom women find through motorcycling.

Pozer Magazine is teaming up with the Women’s Moto Exhibit for the Shoot the Shit tour, a journey across the U.S., “celebrating remarkable women riders who embody strength, camaraderie, and unyielding passion for two wheels”.
